As a follow-up to our blog post about how Inside Arden has a tough time telling Arden Arcade neighborhoods apart, we got an email pointing out similar confusion at CBS13. About a month ago, when the Century Theaters re-opened at Howe 'bout Arden after the historic domes were torn down, Channel 13 did a feature about the new theaters. The feature talked about how "the city" hoped the project would revitalize the area. However, since the Howe 'bout Arden complex is not in a city, but is instead in unincorporated Arden Arcade and controlled by Sacramento County, the feature's reference to "the city" is very confusing. True, one look at our densely-populated community of nearly 100,000 people and a busy reporter might jump to the conclusion that, of course, Arden Arcade is a city. But it isn't. Arden Arcade is just part -- about 16% -- of Sacramento County's vast UnCity. Maybe our local journalists are overworked. Maybe they are pressed for time. Whatever the case, it certainly would serve the public better if they got it right for a change. We would like to help. As we did for Inside Arden, we invite CBS13 to contact us at advocatesforardenarcade@gmail.com.
Channel 13 identified Arden Arcade as the theaters' location, but somehow thinks Arden Arcade is part of the City of Sacramento...or some other city. In any case, no city was involved with the project's approval.
