It is New Year’s Day. 2019 has finally arrived in Arden Arcade. Here’s hoping the new year brings good things to our community, our people, our families and our businesses! Good things like, for example, the long-awaited re-opening of the iconic Flapjacks restaurant at 2721 El Camino. After a disastrous fire way back in 2016, the building has been beautifully rebuilt in its distinctive mid-century googie style. It was an uphill battle to put the building back like it used to be and let the employees return to work. Along the way the project suffered through what seemed like never-ending bureaucratic hassles to finally get to the point where only one more inspection remains - and it is scheduled for tomorrow! Frank Tofanelli, the owner, has sent out an email to his many loyal customers about possibly re-opening this week. What a good way to start the new year: getting Flapjacks back!
