Good News - EmPOWERment Park will be funded!

As has been mentioned here on our blog, Arden Arcade needs an accessible playground - one that can be used by anyone, whether disabled or fully-abled. After many meetings and a lot of hard work by parents of special needs kids and others in the community, the project came together under the leadership of the Sacramento Parks Foundation (consisting of four of our five local park districts: Arcade Creek, Arden Manor, Fulton-El Camino and Mission Oaks). The state has now announced it will award $6.28M to the project from the 2018 Parks Bond! Huge thanks go to SMUD for providing the land, a surplus dirt lot at 1124 Bell Street. Support from the Sacramento Suburban Kiwanis Club, the Greater Arden Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses has been invaluable. There will be a press event at the site on March 5th at 10:30am. Come join the celebration!

The hard work that went into the planning and design of the new socaily-inclusive playground has resulted in approval of Proposition 68 Bond Act funds to construct the park on surplus SMUD land at Bell and Irma.
