How Citrus Heights became a city and made the community better
On January 19, 2016, Citrus Heights Mayor Jeannie Bruins spoke at a community meeting hosted by the Advocates for Arden Arcade. Mayor Bruins explained how Citrus Heights transitioned from an unincorporated community to an incorporated city and spoke of the city's success at providing residents with public safety and businesses with a thriving local economy. It took many years for the community to overcome procedural barriers that stood in the way of incorporation, but eventually the local ballot measure was approved and in January 1997 the City was formed. Serving a population of 84,000 people, Citrus Heights has never been in debt and its residents are satisfied with their municipal services. For more information see the city's web site.
"The City of Citrus Heights has worked to make the city a community where people wanted to move into and stay."
Mayor Jeannie Bruins
