Another Rich Desmond meeting - 5/30/23 about Creekside school transportation

Think again if you thought "May is Bike Month." These days, "May is Meeting Month." In addition to his previously-announced meeting about potholes and anything else transportation-related, Supervisor Desmond has now scheduled a meeting to discuss the transportation aspects of the large new middle school at Creekside. Here's what his invitation to the public says:

"Please join me for a community meeting regarding Katherine Johnson Middle School (formerly Creekside Elementary School) which is located at 2641 Kent Dr. in Arden Arcade. I will be joined by the Sacramento County Department of Transportation and the San Juan Unified School District. This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss transportation concerns around the new school."

The meeting will be held at Howe Park's Conzelman Community Ceneter at 5:30pm on Tuesday, May 30th.

Many moons ago our newsroom elves heard that Supervisor Desmond was not happy about the obvious traffic snafus portended by having a large middle school campus on a smallish former elementary school site served by dead-end streets in our mobility-impared community. When they asked if he wanted to involve the community in a discussion about that, the response from his office has been, "Yes, but he's really busy - has a lot of stuff on his plate. The meeting hasn't been scheduled yet." Well, now it has been scheduled. And now you know about it.

outdoors, tractors, truck, trees
The former Creekside Elementary School's buildings (and trees) are being replaced by a massive parking lot for staff and a hope-it-works pick-up and drop-off loop-de-do.
