Groundbreaking for new park on Bell St.

EmPOWERment Park is a new park that will be built on Bell Street between Hurley and Northrup. The park is designed for inclusive play, meaning a barrier-free park that welcomes people, and especially children, of all abilities to play, learn and grow together. Inclusive play areas are great for families. They allow adults of varying ages and abilities to actively engage with the children in their care.

The emPOWERment Park project is the result of collaboration among several local recreation and park districts (RPDs) that make up the Sacramento Parks Foundation: Arcade Creek RPD, Arden Manor RPD, Fulton-el Camino RPD and Mission Oaks RPD. The Foundation received funds from the 2018 state parks and water bond act, which convinced SMUD to provide its surplus land at Bell and Irma for the project. Additional funds were raised by donations from the local area. The park is located within the Mission Oaks RPD, which will own and operate it on behalf of all the participating districts.

The public is invited to the park's groundbreaking ceremony at 940 Bell on October 3, 2022 at 1:00pm.
