Bob's knows our community
We are not fans of chain discount stores. But we DO like Bob's Discount Furniture. Because unlike other chain stores, Bob's ads say the store is in Arden Arcade, not Sacramento. You see, Bob's is bucking the tide of confusion that conflates our unincorporated community with that big city next door to us. Think about:
- online retailers insisting your delivery address must say "Sacramento" and you have to pay a higher sales tax as a result
- our three post offices that claim they are in "Sacramento"
- pervasive and entrenched local media reports and social media posts that cannot tell one place from another
- when you exit Highway 50 onto Watt and there are directional signs to Carmichael and Carrington College, but none for Arden Arcade (and, yes, we are grateful to Supervisor Desmond for the signs at Business 80 and Expo and the westbound exit to El Camino, but there are 8 other eastbound freeway and 5 other westbound exits to Arden Arcade on the 80 corridor along with the 50 corridor exits at Howe and at Watt)
- how the County Voter's Guide hides our voting locations within the listings for the City of Sacramento.
- chains like Smart and Final, where the check-out aisles at their Arden & Watt store say "City of Sacramento" along with a name of one of our local streets.
We appreciate Bob's acknowledgement that our community exists.

There's no confusion with Bob's. They know their Town and Country Village store is in Arden Arcade.
